Public Sector Program

It’s easy for public agencies to save water and money.

Millions of dollars have been earmarked for the Public Sector Water Efficiency Program.  The four customer-friendly services below will help your agency increase water-use efficiency.

  1. Water Audits - Our auditors survey your building and grounds for water saving opportunities.  You’ll receive a concise audit report that highlights cost effective and practical retrofits.

  1. Enhanced Device Incentives - Metropolitan has increased conservation equipment incentives and is paying them upfront resulting in little to no out-of-pocket expenses.  Devices included in this program are toilets, urinals, cooling tower conductivity controllers, pressurized water brooms, irrigation controllers, spray nozzles and synthetic turf.

  1. Pay For Performance Cash Back - It pays for public agencies to save water.  Reduce your facility’s annual water usage through behavioral modifications by at least 10 percent and Metropolitan will pay 60¢ for every 1,000 gallons saved over last year’s usage.

Interested customers will need to sign an agreement with Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

For more information contact Deneice Cotton at 213-217-6616.

  1. Hook Up to Recycled Water Supply - Agencies that have access to recycled water supplies may be eligible for assistance with system retrofit costs.

Metropolitan provides financial assistance to retrofit public sites to use recycled water for landscape irrigation.  Incentives of $250 per acre-foot, up to actual on-site retrofit costs, for the estimated two years of water use.  Payments would be made upon connection and demonstrated operation of a complete system.  The incentive would only apply to new hook-ups, existing systems or ones already under construction are not eligible.

All public sector customers are eligible.  A public sector customer is defined as a city, county, state or federal facility funded through public funding.  Non-profit organizations are not eligible under this program.

Interested public agencies should ccontact Ray Mokhtari at 213-217-6142.
